Kombucha is taking the world by storm as a worldwide consumed low sugar fermented beverage. It is made with tea, sugar, and probiotic bacteria & yeast. It is consumed for its various health benefits as well as its light, refreshing, fizzy taste. With people starting to care about what they drink and the sugar they consume, kombucha is set to continue to be a growing beverage choice due to its amazing qualities.
-
Our goal since day one has always been to craft approachable Kombucha with without the vinegar after taste. For this reason our Kombucha fermentation is very crisp, dry and light and the perfect backdrop to experiment with delicious organic fruit to create a fizzy, refreshing fruit forward beverage.

Kombucha is made by brewing a pot of tea and adding sugar. Fun Fact! Any type of tea can work, and you can experiment with a wide variety of teas to experience different flavors of kombucha. After the sweet tea mixture is made, you then add the kombucha bacteria and yeast to begin the magical kombucha fermentation. This yeast and bacteria are commonly known as a Scoby which stands for "Symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast". That means it is a mixture of yeasts and bacteria that love to work together and get the job of fermentation done, sorta like all the people you work with within your office.

Hard Kombucha is like regular kombucha in many ways, except we take the process a touch further to make it alcoholic. At Mate Maker, we use fermentation of rice alcohol that is blended with our kombucha fermentation. This helps us make a hard kombucha that is gluten-free, vegan, and organic; with a tart, crisp, clean, and dry finish that is unique to other kombuchas on the market that may have a vinegar finish. We fermented it twice to make it taste so nice!
-
We keep our ingredients simple and easy to understand avoiding any hidden ingredients that you aren’t familiar with or can’t pronounce. This is the main reason we list every ingredient on the back of our cans!
We start off using organic green tea and cane organic sugar along with the unique kombucha SCOBY we developed. We believe that the choice of green tea along with our special cultured kombucha SCOBY presents a much more enjoyable drinkable brew unlike some of the other more vinegar-tasting kombuchas you can find in the marketplace. We then blend in our rice-based alcohol fermentation to create our base hard kombucha. With this base, we can now use a multitude of different real juices, herbs, and spices to create amazing flavor combinations to stoke out your taste buds!
By using real, organic, gluten-free, and vegan ingredients, and caring more about what goes into the product, we can produce a hard kombucha that is under 110 calories and less than 5 grams of sugar.
-
Some hard kombucha brands choose to long ferment their product through a second fermentation using champagne yeast however this emphasizes the Kombucha flavors that many associate with vinegar or wine flavors.
Many kombuchas that are ‘raw’ use only natural flavors and sweeteners instead of real fruit, but our mission has always been to use only use real, organic ingredients and fruits. Our mantra is it’s better to use the real thing instead of the fake stuff!
Not a fan of Kombucha? Not to worry we prefer a light, dry and fruity product that allows the delicious combo of organic juices and purees to shine.

All our hard booch recipes are under 5g of sugar per serve, so they are all classified as “Low sugar” with most of the sugar coming from the organic fruits we use. Just because something is sugar free or zero calories doesn’t mean that it’s better for you. If a product lists ‘sugar free’ or zero calories it generally means that it has artificial sweeteners like stevia or sucralose inside it which are heavily processed and refined.
These sugar alternatives have undergone many studies with findings showing that artificial sweeteners are worse for you than the real deal. A good example is diet coke vs. real coke. Just because diet coke is zero calories doesn’t make it a healthier alternative.
Mate Maker believes that simplicity and transparency in its ingredients is important and part of a bigger movement of only using organic, real ingredients in its products… Our belief is that nothing beats the real thing!
-
Our product is 100% shelf stable and does not require refrigeration to avoid spoilage or over fermentation. We chose to do this to ensure that we have a consistent taste and high-quality experience without risk of it spoiling, going off or tasting like vinegar.
We always recommend the product to be kept out of hot environments/direct sunlight as it does have real organic fruit inside, keeping it refrigerated or in a cool place will guarantee the most refreshing drink experience.

Mate Maker co is a hard kombucha, which means its alcoholic and not something we recommend you drink to be functionally healthier. However, our POV is that if you choose to drink, wouldn’t you want to drink something that’s made with better ingredients?
Mate Maker is made using kombucha, juices and purees that are all organic and 100% real. This means that our product has vitamins and antioxidants from the fruit and teas all while having no artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors that are hidden from the drinker in many other beverages.
